Infertility
What Is Female Infertility?
In simple terms, infertility is when a couple cannot have a child naturally or without help. Female infertility arises because of problems associated with the female anatomy. There are several causes of this. Some of these causes have treatments that can help and some do not. Some see a doctor who specializes in infertility, only to find out that they “should” be able to conceive. With other couples, the cause is a little more obvious. For example, if it is due to a condition such as endometriosis. Infertility is something to be explored with a qualified physician. He or she will help you determine the cause and potential treatment options.
General Causes Of Female Infertility
There are a few general conditions that can indirectly cause infertility in both males and females. These are diabetes, liver and kidney disease (usually in an advanced state), thyroid problems, and adrenal diseases such as Addison’s. If any of these conditions are present, especially in the female, then it is important to alert your fertility doctor to them. Also, the use of drugs and alcohol can also affect fertility. That is why it is a good idea to get a drug or alcohol problem under control when trying to conceive. People who smoke may also have a problem.
Other Female Infertility Causes
There are a lot of factors that can cause infertility in females. These are usually related to hormone imbalances and problems and disorders associated with the female anatomy. Premature menopause, endometriosis, tubal dysfunction, uterine fibroids, vaginal obstruction, and antisperm antibodies are just some of the problems that can arise. All of these options should be explored with a qualified physician.
Diagnosis Of Female Infertility
When a couple is struggling with infertility, it can be a struggle trying to figure out what the cause is. Diagnosing when female infertility exists in many ways is the easy part. Since there are so many different causes for female infertility, it will be up to the specialist to administer the proper tests to diagnose exactly what they are. Sure, there are plenty of generalized treatments available, but if the cause is known it will make the process much easier.
Resolving Female Infertility
Since there are a lot of different causes of infertility and many different treatment options, it is a good idea to consult with a specialist to determine the right things to do for resolving female infertility. In general, trying to maintain a state of overall good health is essential and will help no matter what the problem is. If anything, if you are healthy it will help you better overcome the underlying cause or withstand surgery or a rigorous treatment schedule. There are also some infertility drugs such as Letrozole (Femara), Metformin (Glucophage), Metrodin, and Clomid can help out depending on the situation. Procedures such as finding a surrogate mother or fertilizing the egg through surgery are also options. There are also some herbal infertility remedies, such as drinking oatstraw tea, that are also said to help with infertility.
Long Road Of Infertility
A lot of couples are dealing with the issues and problems brought about by infertility. The tests, treatments, and stress can do a lot to compound the situation. But, medical science can do a lot to help restore and/or boost fertility rates and cause the female to become pregnant without using “natural” means. The best thing to do is to contact a specialist and see what options are available.
